The Canadian Open event kicked July 22 at ICAR in Mirabel Quebec Canada. The ICAR facility offered a completely unique challenge with a temporary style circuit based on an airport location. The event hosted all the normal Rotax categories including DD2 MAX with RMC Grand Final tickets awarded to all categories.
COMPKART entered the following drivers in its official team:
Oliver Hodgson – Sr MAX
Chris Harrower – Sr MAX
Theo Kekati – Sr MAX
Conner Lypka – Mini MAX
Cooper O’Clair – DD2 MAX
The event started well with Wednesday through Friday being open to customary open testing which provided strong local Canadian competition in every category. New was DD2 MAX category for Cooper O’Clair who used the even to acclimate for later in the year when he heads to the RMC Grand Finals to compete in DD2. The young immediately showed his talent by edging the top five in times just a mere 1-2 tenths off the more experienced pilots.
“The event was a really motivating one for us, going across the boarder in to Canada always elevates the competitiveness. We took the win in Sr MAX with a brilliant drive by Oliver as we were able to show case our materials in the one that mattered. Also noted are the great drivers by all the drivers, so proud to young Conner Lypka and Chris Harrower who had great finals. O’Clair has some bad luck in the final as did Theo however that doesn’t lessen their efforts and professionalism. ” — Team Management
